The Halford Hewitt is a tournament steeped in history and one in which Stowe used to be regarded as a force to be reckoned with.

This year (2026), largely thanks to the generosity of a number of OSGS Members and Past Members, we managed to reverse the recent lack of success in the Hewitt by recruiting some of the best young talent that Stowe has produced in recent years.

Together with our battle-hardened “HH oldies”, Stowe defeated Taunton, Rugby and Repton to reach the Quarter-finals for the first time since 1994 (where we lost narrowly to the eventual winners, Rossall, and actually outscored them in terms of holes Up).

While this year’s achievement was magnificent, the challenge now is to build on the foundations laid this year and win the Hewitt within the next 2-3 years (our last win being way back in 1988 after our first in 1979).

To do this, realistically, we need to secure the services of all of our US college golfers and others working overseas, in addition to recruiting the latest talent to come out of the Stowe Golf Academy (and this means funding their travel and accommodation expenses).

Having demonstrated what can be achieved this year with financial support from the HH Fund and under the inspiring leadership of Jean-Michel Hall (Temple 06) and his vice-captains, the Committee would be very grateful if you could see your way to providing further support towards our 2027 Halford Hewitt campaign.

We were able to raise an incredible £3,650 for this year’s very successful Hewitt, but we will probably need to raise 2x this amount to have a really good chance of winning the Hewitt again (for the first time since 1988 i.e. nearly 40 years ago next year!).

We have seen your HH Fund contributions earlier this year translate directly into our stunning set of results at Deal, so it would be wonderful and much appreciated if you could support our young stars again in 2027 (or for the first time) to build on the success achieved in 2026.
